Maintenance Person

Based at Holly Lodge, St Catherine's Road, Frimley Green, Camberley, Surrey, GU16 9NP

Starting salary £12.00 per hour, 40 hours per week Monday to Friday.

Our Maintenance Person's main purpose is to assist in ensuring the good maintenance of the fabric of the care homes, the interior of the buildings, equipment, infrastructure, services and security. They will ensure that any maintenance/repair works are carried out promptly, efficiently and with minimum disturbance to the normal operation of the home

Main Duties of our Maintenance Person:

Daily :-

  • Check maintenance book and discuss priorities with Registered Manager.
  • General inspection of home.
  • Replace light bulbs, etc. as necessary.
  • Identify and report any hazards to the Registered Manager.
  • Run errands as required/directed by the Registered Manager.
  • Inspect external approaches to the home, i.e. footpaths, car park, etc. to ensure they are safe and maintained in good order.

Weekly :-

  • Check small electrical appliances as necessary to ensure they are in good, safe working order in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Ensure safety and cleanliness within the home and immediate surrounds is in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Check/test the fire alarm system to ensure correct operation. Maintain appropriate records of checks/tests.
  • Inspect and test the nurse-call system, emergency lights and passenger lifts to ensure correct operation. Maintain appropriate records and report any malfunctions.
  • Check security of premises, i.e. windows, doors, etc.
  • Check that the heating system is functioning properly and that room and water temperatures are adequate. Record water temperature readings appropriately and report any malfunctions.

Monthly :-

  • Check wheelchairs, hoists, profiling beds and other mechanical equipment and repair or report as necessary.
  • Check the general condition of interior decorating and repair/maintain as necessary.
  • Ensure that all certificates are maintained and up to date.
  • Inspect fire-fighting equipment and maintain appropriate records. Report any problems.
  • Read gas, electric and water meters as required.

Ad-hoc :-

  • Re-decorate residents' rooms as required.
  • Report any faults to appropriate service contractors and arrange for repairs to be carried out.
  • To perform other such reasonable duties as may be required.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills Required:

  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential
  • Excellent organizational skills
